@ Karl Whelan
Thanks for posting these remarks.
What a shower of 3@$&*! Spread the blame......

@ FPL
I hope you are not suggesting that holding bank shares disqualify anyone from involvement in the property carousel!?

@ all
WE knew all this and it is as bad as it looked. The message seems to be getting through, partly, or do I mean partially, to FG.

The whole problem was that those who got off (the carousel!) first, made the most money, leveraged via the banks. Those who were the greediest stayed the longest and got caught, so that we end up paying for them.

I know we all know that but just in case we forgot!

Banks are an instrument of oppression. Look at John Law: he did a good job for the British crown as he put France back nearly a century and allowed Britain to rule the waves. Looks to me as if someone has done it again on a larger scale to many countries....

On point 4. If the clawback is not in the initial bill, then any debate on NAMA should assume that it will never exist.

I love the way Sean Barrett frets about the possibility that "we pay too little". An interesting concept this, getting too good a price.

Interesting to see at number 6 above the centrality of rezoning and planning permission to the "growth" of the banks and hence the economy!
