		<description>I think Ashoka Mody makes a very good point.  Applied to Ireland, credibly committing to such a rule would provide more scope for countercyclical fiscal policy, not less.</description>

On a side point, it's interesting that US-based economists e,g. Ashoka Mody, Larry Summers and Ben Bernanke, seem to be reluctant to wear their Ph.D badges!</description>
