BTW When can the Irish Ciizenry have Grattan’s ‘piece of property’ back?

The annual stipend of €20,000 is arguably too much for a PhD student in current circumstances. By comparison, net of tax and contributions, Irish universities tend to pay about €29k p.a. for a newly hired lecturer.

I second your proposal and would of course be happy to supervise! Now all we need is a sufficiently well-resourced friend of Trinity to provide the resources…

I’m not sure I agree. A good stipend is required to attract international quality PhD students, while it’s hard to argue that a premium of circa 50% is too small for a doctorate. Many of us could point to negative premiums!
